Step 1: Prepare for Baking
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Step 2: Make the Batter
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla extract and mix until combined.
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fold in the diced apples evenly.
Step 3: Bake the Bread
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 4: Make the Caramel Sauce
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt sugar, stirring constantly until it turns a deep amber color.
Add butter and stir until fully melted and combined.
Slowly pour in heavy cream, stirring continuously. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes, then remove from heat.
Stir in vanilla extract and let the caramel cool slightly.
Step 5: Assemble & Serve
Drizzle the warm caramel sauce over the cooled bread.
Slice and enjoy your deliciously moist Caramel Apple Bread!
