  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup heavy cream

  • Step 1: Prepare for Baking
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • Step 2: Make the Batter
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Fold in the diced apples evenly.
  • Step 3: Bake the Bread
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt sugar, stirring constantly until it turns a deep amber color.
