Instructions for Chocolate Covered Waffles

Step 1: Prepare the Waffle Batter

    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
    • Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

    Step 2: Cook the Waffles

    • Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it with butter or non-stick spray.
    • Pour the batter into the waffle iron, following the manufacturer's instructions.
    • Cook until golden brown and crispy, then remove and let them cool slightly on a wire rack.

    Step 3: Melt the Chocolate

    • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil (or butter).
    • Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and fully melted.
    • Alternatively, melt the chocolate using a double boiler.

Step 4: Dip and Coat the Waffles

    • Once the waffles have cooled slightly, dip one half into the melted chocolate, letting the excess drip off.
    • Place the chocolate-covered waffles on a parchment-lined tray.

Step 5: Add Toppings & Set

    • Sprinkle with crushed nuts, coconut, sprinkles, or sea salt while the chocolate is still wet.
    • Let the chocolate set at room temperature or refrigerate for 10-15 minutes until firm.

    Step 6: Serve & Enjoy

    • Serve your chocolate covered waffles warm or at room temperature. Enjoy with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or a drizzle of caramel!
